Hp stopped releasing new drivers for the 1000 after xp, and they never released 64-bit driver for it. i haven't seen anyone make it work on 64-bit os other than the method i used. the problem is the host-based printer; if it had a processor this issue could be worked around.. Install hp laserjet 1000 to windows 7 64-bit all works fine except of course the hp laserjet, which i assumed would be a no-brainer at all. figures hp doesn't have the necessary drivers.. I have an old but brilliantly reliable laserjet 1000. i now have new pc running on win 7 64 bit. does anyone know of a generic driver which will allow me to connect my new pc with the printer?.
The laserjet 1000 is a usb printer. but even with a print server you are still going to need a printer drivers. for a printer that old you are not going to get windows 7 drivers, certainly not 64 bit drivers.. It seems that laserjet 1000 is not even vista compatible. furthermore, it has been discontinued. there is a workaround for vista 32-bits that will also work for windows 7, but not for 64-bits.. afaik, your options are as follows:.
