How to Factory Reset Apple MacBook

How to factory reset Apple Macbook
How to factory reset Apple Macbook
Whether you’re giving an old MacBook to a new employee or getting rid of one, resetting the computer removes your business’s sensitive information — such as client lists or financial sheets — from the hard drive. Restoring the MacBook also clears up space and makes your computer work more efficiently. The MacBook’s Mountain Lion operating system has a built-in recovery program, so you don’t need separate recovery media; however, the MacBook must be connected to your network — either via Wi-Fi or an Ethernet connection — for this process to work.

Method 1 of 2: Resetting the SMC

  1. Try to troubleshoot your computer before performing an SMC reset. The SMC reset controls the fan and power settings on your MacBook, and may be the only way to fix certain malfunctions. Before attempting it, however, you should try a few basic troubleshooting steps.
    • Try to force quit unresponsive programs before attempting an SMC reset. Press Command + Option + Escape to force quit an application.
    • Try to put your MacBook into Sleep mode by clicking the Apple menu and selecting Sleep. After it goes to Sleep, press a key to wake it up.
    • Try restarting your MacBook by clicking the Apple menu and selecting Restart.
    • Try shutting down the MacBook and then restarting it. You can shut down the Mac through the Apple menu, or if that doesn’t work, press and hold the Power button for 10 seconds.
  2. Check the symptoms. There are several symptoms that are directly related to the SMC. If your MacBook is experiencing these after you have triued the above troubleshooting steps, you may need to perform an SMC reset:
    • The fans are loud and running at high speed even though the computer isn’t hot and it is well-ventilated.
    • Indicator lights (battery, backlights, etc.) are not working properly.
    • The MacBook doesn’t respond to pressing the Power button.
    • The computer shuts itself down or goes to sleep unexpectedly.
    • The battery does not charge properly
  3. Perform an SMC reset on a MacBook with a removable battery. If you have an easily removeable battery on your MacBook, follow these steps. If your MacBook’s battery is not easily removable, skip to Step 4:
    • Shut down the computer and disconnect the power cord if it is currently plugged in.
    • Remove the battery from the back of the MacBook.
    • Press and hold the Power button for 5 seconds, then release the Power button.
    • Reinsert the battery and connect the power cable. Press the Power button to turn the computer on.
  4. Perform and SMC reset on a MacBook without a removable battery. If you have a slim MacBook without an easily-accessible battery, follow these steps to reset your SMC:
    • Shut down the computer.
    • Plug the power cord into the MacBook and the power source.
    • Press the Left Shift + Control + Option keys and the Power button at the same time.
    • Release all of the keys and the Power button at the same time.
    • Press the Power button to turn the computer back on.
  5. Verify that the problem has been resolved. If you are still having issues with your MacBook, you may need to wipe it and reinstall the operating system. You will lose any data that you have saved on the MacBook. Follow the steps in the next section to reinstall the operating system.

Method 2 of 2: Factory Resetting Your MacBook Pro

  1. Backup your important data. When you reset your MacBook, you will be deleting the data on your computer and reinstalling the operating system. This means you will lose everything that you had saved on your hard drive. Back up everything you want to keep, either by copying select files to an external drive or DVD, or by using the Time Machine program to back up all of your files.
  2. Boot to the Recovery HD. Reboot the computer and hold down the Command + R keys. This will load the Recovery function. Select the Recovery HD.
  3. Select the Disk Utility. Click the Continue button. When Disk Utility loads, you will be shown a list of your hard disks. Select the Macintosh HD disk and click the Erase tab.
    • For some users, their primary disk may have been renamed and may not be called Macintosh HD. Select whichever disk is your primary hard disk.
  4. Select the disk format. You will see several options for the disk format. You should select Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Click the Erase button. The erase process may take a few minutes.
  5. Close Disk Utility. You will be returned to the Recovery menu. Select “Reinstall OS X” and then click the Install button. This will begin the installation process for OS X.
    • You will need a working internet connection in order to download and install OS X. You can check your connection by clicking the connection icon in the upper-right corner of the screen.
    • If you need to install Snow Leopard or earlier, check out this guide
  6. Begin the installation. Once the installation has started, you will be asked to read and agree to the Terms and Conditions. Once you have accepted them, you will need to specify the hard drive that you want to install OS X to. By default the Macintosh HD drive should be selected.
  7. Wait for the installation to finish. This could take between 30-60 minutes, depending on your computer. You may be asked to enter your Apple ID to verify the purchase of OS X (if you’ve upgraded). Once the installation is complete, your computer will be factory reset, and will act as if you had just taken it out of the box.
    • You will need to reinstall your old programs and restore your backed up files to where you want them on your fresh system.

Tips

  • If the restore process finds a problem, the MacBook connects to Apple’s website and begins Internet recovery. It takes longer, but can fix your computer if the recovery drive is absent or if the hard drive is damaged.
  • Instead of a clean system install, you can choose “Restore from Time Machine Backup” from the Utilities menu if you want to restore a backup you’ve created and stored with Apple.
  • You’ll have to go through the setup process once your computer is reset.

Warning

  • Back up your MacBook before you reset if you don’t want to lose your files.

increase revenue with infolinks ad solution
In-Text advertising: Your existing text is turned into cash. Your content is analysed and normal text is turned into text ads to make you huge money; ads appear only when user mouses over the word.
In-Tag advertising: Tag clouds is known to call to action; infolinks offers in-tag advertising. Tags are shown next to your content according to the page context. They are keywords bought by advertisers; they are related to your content and attract readers.
In-Frame advertising: Do you have margin in your design? You can monetize them with in-frame advertising. When your site is visited from large screen, the non used margin space will be used by advertisers.

Payment methods

payment are made on Net-45. You get paid at $50 minimum payment through Payoneer prepaid Mastercard (apply for your card today and get $25 free), PayPal, eCheck and ACH. You get paid via Western Union and Wire transfer when your account balance reach $100.

Earn huge money with infolinks through smart methods

Now, let’s get smart. We know what is infolinks, what is recommend and how can we get paid. Now, let’s see how we can maximize revenues.
First, Infolinks is simple. You just add a simple line of JavaScript code in your source code; your setting will apply and your site will start generating you money. Sometimes, it takes a week to start earning; this is the time to analyze your kind of content. So, to earn it is simple; but what if we want huge money from infolinks?

Use infolinks referral programs

Make huge money with Infolinks affiliate program. You get paid from referring publishers; you get paid according to publishers performance. To join infolinks affiliate program, you need to have an approved website with Infolinks running on it.
If your referred publishers gets up to 10 000 impressions per day, you earn $25; if he gets up to 100 000 impressions, you earn $100; if he gets more than to 100 000 average daily impressions, you earn $1000. It is not awesome? the higher level of publisher you refer, the higher revenue you earn.
Once referral meet the required daily impressions, the revenue is added to youraccount balance. Your revenue is calculated after 3 months of referrer membership and he must have at least 300 daily net impressions and 30% traffic from US.

Increases revenues from top tiers traffic

Because advertisers bid higher for tier 1 countries ( USA, Canada, UK), try to get most of your traffic from those countries. Infolinks determine which ad to serve based on hour, countries, page keywords.

Write around high CTR and high paying Infolinks Keywords

As i said, the revenue you get depend on keywords as well. It is an in-text advertising network, so, words matter. Most paying keywords are around:

  • educational loans.
  • online degree.
  • web hosting.
  • domain name registration.
  • reward cards.
  • money making.
Still, any kind of website belong the infolinks categories will find high paying ads.
Get high quality source traffic
The above image show Infolinks earning of $0.28, $9.65 eCPM for 29 ad views over 79 page views. It is one of my low traffic day on heedpages.com and i did earn even that. High traffic sites can then earn huge revenue from infolinks; any webmasters can turn its website into cash.
I found that in-search ad generate more money; it is shown when traffic come from high quality traffic sources such as Google search, Google plus comunity, goo.gl shortened link, reddit and so on… Make use of these site to get traffic to your site and increase your site revenue. It is also recommended to turn on in-search for your site on infolinks.
There’s no minimum traffic required to join infolinks. You can apply if your site has more than 10 pages. I got rejected once and then got accepted by using cloudflare; so, i would recommend speeding your site through cloudflare to get more than performance benefit; it has a free plan (that i am using now)! Get paid per impressions, get on CPC ads; earn huge money with infolinks through smart methods.

How to Make the New Google Maps Embeds Responsive?

Responsive Google Maps resize automatically based on the screen size
Responsive Google Maps – The maps automatically resize based on the screen size.
The new Google Maps now offer you can option to embed maps in your web pages. While you are on the Google Maps website, zoom-in to an area that you wish to embed, click the Gear icon in the lower left corner and choose the Embed Maps option from the menu.
This web page contains a sample map embedded using the default embed code provided by Google Maps. The embedded map is non-responsive. What it means is if you open the page on a device other than your desktop computer, the Google Map won’t fit the screen and you’ll have to scroll the page horizontally to see the complete map.
Here’s another web page that contains the same Google Map but now the map has been embedded responsively. Thus, if you resize the browser or view the page on a small device, the embedded map would adjust its size automatically based on your screen size.

How to Embed Google Maps Responsively

This is the default embed code for the new Google Maps:

  1. <!-- Height=450px; Width=600px -->

  2. <iframe src="https://www.google.com/maps/embed?pb=!1m14!1m12!1m3!1d7098.94326104394!2d78.0430654485247!3d27.172909818538997!2m3!1f0!2f0!3f0!3m2!1i1024!2i768!4f13.1!5e0!3m2!1sen!2s!4v1385710909804" width="600" height="450" frameborder="0" style="border:0"></iframe>

As specified in the height and width parameters of the embed code, the default height for medium embeds is 450px or 75% of the default width (600px).
If you wish to transform this static sized Google Map into one that is responsive, all you have to do is add a few CSS rules to your web page and wrap the embed IFRAME inside these rules.
The new embed code with responsive style will be something like this. You can change the value of padding-bottom (line #4) from 75% to something for a different aspect ratio.

  1. <style>

  2. .google-maps {

  3. position: relative;

  4. padding-bottom: 75%; // This is the aspect ratio

  5. height: 0;

  6. overflow: hidden;

  7. }

  8. .google-maps iframe {

  9. position: absolute;

  10. top: 0;

  11. left: 0;

  12. width: 100% !important;

  13. height: 100% !important;

  14. }

  15. </style>

  16.

  17. <div class="google-maps">

  18. <iframe src="https://www.google.com/maps/embed?pb=!1m14!1m12!1m3!1d7098.94326104394!2d78.0430654485247!3d27.172909818538997!2m3!1f0!2f0!3f0!3m2!1i1024!2i768!4f13.1!5e0!3m2!1sen!2s!4v1385710909804" width="600" height="450" frameborder="0" style="border:0"></iframe>

  19. </div>

A similar technique can be used to embed Instagram videos and photos responsively.

How to Change the Date of your Digital Photographs

Arun Q. Public has just finished importing the videos and pictures from the digital camera to his laptop but realizes that the media files are incorrectly time-stamped.
Maybe the date and time settings of his “point and shoot” camera were set incorrectly or maybe the digital camera was stamping the files with local time though the pictures were being shot in another country with a different time zone. He probably forgot to change the time stamp of the camera before going on vacation.
How does Arun change the data and time of his pictures?
Most image editing software, Picasa and iPhoto included, allow you corect the data and time of photographs imported from a digital camera or a smartphone. You can import your digital photos in the software and select the ones that need to be fixed.
In the case of Picasa, choose Tools -> Adjust Date & Time and select a new date for your photos. This will change the “Date Picture Taken” field in the EXIF data of you picturs. Similarly, iPhoto users can choose Photos -> Adjust Date & Time to set the selected photos to a particular date and time.
I however prefer a little-known command line utilitly called ExifTool for such operations since it is much more versatile. To get started, download the ExifTool executable and extract the zip file to your desktop. Now rename the exiftool(-k).exe utility to exiftool.exe and we are all set to adjust the date and time of our photographs.
Unlike the iPhoto or Picasa software that simply set the date and time of a photograph to another time stamp, Exif Tool can “shift” the data and time values associated with a picture. For instance, if your camera’s time was off by 2 hours 30 minutes at the time of capture, you can use ExifTool to shift the time stamp of all your pictures only by that “off” duration.

The sytax is:
exiftool.exe "-DateTimeOriginal+=Y:M:D h:m:s" filename.jpg
For instance, if wish to shift the time of photographs by 5 hours and 30 minutes, the command would be:
exiftool.exe "-DateTimeOriginal+=0:0:0 5:30:0" filename.jpg
And if you wish to perform a negative shift by 1 day, the command would be:
exiftool.exe "-DateTimeOriginal-=0:1:0 0:0:0" filename.jpg
Please refer to this document for the exact syntax and other examples.
image-change-date
While other programs only modify the “Date Picture Taken” (DateTimeOriginal),, Exif Tool can also be used to modify other meta data include the “Date Modified” (ModifyDate) and “Date Created” (CreateDate) fields. The command would be:
exiftool.exe "-AllDates+=Y:M:D h:m:s" filename.jpg
Exif Tool makes a copy of your original photograph before updating the time stamp. The tool is free and available for Windows, Mac and Linux.

How to Make a HTML Drop-Down List with Countries Using Javascript

Recently, I was trying to make a registration form and simply found myself needing a html drop-down list of countries. Having to write all the <option>tags for about 204 countries is very annoying, so I decided to wrap it all up in a javascript function and share it with the rest of you, who might need it. My countries source was WikiPedia, so if I missed something…well…it is their fault. The function is pretty simple you only need the id of the <div> in which you need the drop-down list of countries .  You can check the full code with the example below. In order to use the script you have to save the javascript below(lets say to countries_list.js), load it in your html and call the function.
function countriesDropdown(container){
var countries = {

How to Make Money with Apps

Make Money with Apps and enjoy. Apps are one of the best things about smartphones. Games, utilities and other fun programs help you kill time, meet people and make your life easier. But did you know that they can also help you make money?
There are lots of apps out there that offer users opportunities to win cash, gift certificates and redeemable points. For those of you interested in making money with apps, here are some of the best ones to use.

Jingit

The Jingit app is one of the most enjoyable ways to earn passive income. If you are a user who is 18 years old, you can earn money by watching videos. Seriously. Just sign up and watch the commercials listed on the app. Once you’re done watching, click the button at the end of the video. The money you earn will be deposited on a Jingit-provided Visa card.
You can also earn money on Jingit by getting out of the house. If you check in to certain locations dictated by Jingit, you can earn money just as you can by watching commercials. The payments are relatively small — 50 cents or so per visit or commercial — and there is a weekly earning cap. But, you’re essentially getting free money every week.

WeReward

WeReward is a cell phone app that pays users for visits to stores. The app works on a point system. Each point is worth a penny. When you check into a store, you can earn anywhere from a few to 200 points depending on the store.
You can also earn points for a little product placement. Sometimes the app will ask you to take a picture of a specific product in a specific place. Or you may be asked to take a picture of yourself and your friends with the product in hand. All of those are worth points. Once you earn 10,000 points on WeReward you can request a PayPal payment.

CheckPoints

The CheckPoints app doesn’t give users actual dollars, but there’s plenty of opportunity to earn. Users browse the app for stores and products. Once they check into the listed store and scan the products, they earn points. Those points can be redeemed for gift certificates to stores and restaurants, airline miles and charitable donations.

Field Agent

The Field Agent app is a fun way to earn a considerable amount of money. App users act as spies or field agents for major corporations. As field agents they pick listed assignments that ask them to fill out surveys or visit stores and take pictures of storefronts, displays and stocked items to make sure individual chains are in compliance with the parent company’s requests. The amount that each job pays is listed on the job so you can see how much you can earn before you click. Some enterprising users claim they can make up to $100 in a matter of hours.

Wikets

This app pays you for liking Facebook pages, recommending products and places, asking for product recommendations and shopping. Each activity earns you a certain amount of points, depending on the activity. Those points can be redeemed in Amazon.com gift cards. Each hundred points is worth a dollar in gift cards and you can cash out at $5 increments once you have $15 worth of points racked up.

Seed

Unlike the other money making apps, Seed requires a talent (or at least an affinity) for writing and photography. Users snap photos of breaking news in their area and add a brief summary. Writers then submit those photos and summaries to seed. If accepted, they can earn a payment that varies depending on the value of the picture.
There are lots of ways to make money with apps. Sign up for several money making apps and your phone may even begin to pay for itself.
